Let’s talk about doing things. Doing things intentionally. All acts require an intentional commitment to do something and actively carry out that act. If you are like me who loves to daydream during spare times, half of the time those dreams never actualise. We all dream about potential business ideas or owning a successful business but, how many of these dreams do we actually make an intentional act to do it? I would say most times, we leave them as they are – dreams.
It’s a New Year People, Let’s Be Intentional!!!
Intentional means doing a deliberate act on purpose. It is the first step to commitment. Some studies have shown that our happiness level is based on 40% of our intentional activities. These are the cognitive and behavioural activities we choose to do. We decided in our hearts that making these conscious activities will cause some form of fulfilment.
I’ve always said this to people that your happiness should be your priority. This means surrounding yourself with people, thoughts or things that make you happy. When you are happy, your happiness becomes contagious and you would start to attract people who genuinely want to be a part of your life.
If it’s a business venture, work on yourself to be the best you can, be positive in all situations and respect each other. Stop making up imaginary scenarios in your head and raising unnecessary red flags. In as much as it can be good to engage in self-talk, avoid negative speaking. Positive thinking doesn’t mean things will turn out well but it shows that you are willing to make an effort regardless of the situation.
Yes, it is hard when the signs are written in red but there are always two sides to a coin. It might not be exactly as you think. If it ends up being what you think, move on. Remember, there is plenty of time to make up and overturn bad decisions.
Negativity Weakens self-esteem!!!
If you have a new business you’ve been dreaming about, write it down, do your research, prioritise and START! Think about it this way, if you dislike being an employee, then you have to make an intentional decision to start your own business to become the employer. Start small; don’t be aiming to be like Bill Gates in 6 months.
I know some people like me love to dream about owning nice houses, cars and money. In as much as it is possible to be rich in 6 months, focus more on being successful than just being rich. Being successful means you will be rich for a long time while just being rich can be for a short while.
Microsoft was not created in a day people! It was created by Bill Gates’ intentional act. The name Microsoft was probably not chosen in a day either… I had a hard time just picking a name for my blog.
All I’m saying is that, if you want it, go for it. This means physically doing something and not just dreaming about it for ages.
